I stumbled upon sonu nigams tweet about azan. Unconsciously my mind trolled to the past. I remembered the conversations in my grandparent’s home...like the servant replying back “amma I will return by namaz time “, or “the first bus comes exactly at namaz time”, my grand mother shouting at my cousins “it’s past namaz time when will you eat”
Azan was used in reference to time, nothing more than that. It never meant anything more than that.
There was no threat to anyone’s religion, barring occasional clashes during ganesh festivals. Though I will not deny the strong undercurrent of hatred Hindus held against Islamic rulers, but never against the common muslim.
We hate Aurangzeb, mehmood of ghor, gazini, on some occasions the nizam too but in the same tone we talked high about Akbar praised the valor of tippu sultan. Zeenat, amber, ruksana, and sultana were friends and sometimes referred to as Muslim friends at home. Ahmed bhaiiya, salim bhaiyya were bhaiyyas. Nasser chacha , moin uncle were just uncles. Few friends used to educate us about barbarism of Islamic invaders, but we hated the British more than the Muslim rulers. Our common enemy was always British.
Elders did not like them because they ate bada ka meat. But my generation did not bother about that, as we were born in independent India and the hatred was diluted by then. The energy with which we participated in eid was not shared by them and the happiness with which we ate their prasadam was not reciprocated which hurt, but never bothered us to an extent that we stopped being who we are. We hush hushed about it and forgot it in no time.
It surprises me when we are called intolerant. It is shocking to listen to such statements. It hurts me when Muslims defend zakir naik who openly standing on a stage address lakhs of people inciting hatred against hindus and their style of worshipping. And it is more divisive as this is coming from educated, learned responsible Muslims too. The only way to douse this fire of communal hatred is to behave and talk with more responsibility for the sake of our children.
Hindus accepted Muslims as a part of their culture long back... Muslims are engraved in the DNA of India but it hurts when they burst crackers after Pakistanis victory on India in cricket. It hurts when they are stubborn and argue about only their god being supreme and their worshipping methods the most scientific. It irks me and drags me into futile arguments. It is pity that we fight and kill each other to defend our invisible gods.
It is because of this irresponsible behavior that yogis are winning, the tolerant sonus are tweeting, and the innocent akhlaks are being killed. The gurmehar khans are victimized, kanhaiyya kumars go bersek; The future of this country lies more in the hands of educated Muslims. About Hindus no doubt they have become intolerant in comparison, but remember a majority of them still are in favor of peaceful coexistence. It is just that they are now being repeatedly reminded of the oppression in the hands of Muslim rulers, about forceful conversion, barbarism of the rulers Sikandar Butshikan Aurangzeb Feroz Shah Tuglaq, which makes no sense. How is todays muslims responsible for the crimes of their ancestors. Like never before these days I witness the strong anti Muslim arguments everywhere, not even in 1992 we hated each other so much. And kashmiri’s behavior is a mystery to me I don’t know why they take up to streets to the extreme of instigating army , wish someone educated them about the repercussions of meddling with the army. They enjoy subsidies; they are pampered and treated like special children with special needs. They are no doubt our spoiled children, wean off the privileges and see the change, and please address their problems too, I am sure it will cost Indian state less that way.
About reservations and the growing menace of reservations I have one thing to say “I as a forward cast citizen never enjoyed the privileges of the birth in upper caste but definitely saw the negative side of it, and my children will be hit even more badly. Maybe this is the karmic cycle, I am repaying for the atrocities my ancestors committed against dalits. Manu whatever he wrote he did it with a broader mind. Initially he divided us into groups and first bequeathed the privileges to one group and is now making them pay back to the lineage of the people whom they oppressed.
Good going india, we as citizens should act with more alacrity and not get carried away by the preachings and teaching of our so called leaders , gurus…all of them have an agenda, and they are using us for their personal goals. ……..and most important use the “FORWARD” button with caution, dump the crap and forward scientific posts.
LET ISIS GO TO HELL, LET WEST GO TO HELL , LET PAKISTAN GO TO HELL... WHY SHOULD WE GET CARRIED AWAY AND DESTROY OUR PEACE………………..
CHEERS … LETS CELEBRATE OUR TODAY, BURY OUR PAST AND BUILD A GOLDEN future FOR OUR CHILDREN, TOGETHER , HAND IN HAND……………..
