Whatsapp university is not always wrong.

Whatsapp university is not always wrong.

________________________________
A year ago, Inspired by all the healthy cooking videos and lifestyle coaches' pravachans, I shopped for millet flours and mixed them with wheat flour to prepare healthy multigrain atta. Ragi+jowar+bajra+chana+wheatmixed them in 1 kg each, then repacked the mixed flour in 500 grams zip pouches and stored them in the freezer. Rolling the rotis with multigrain is not easy either; it took some time to handhold and teach the aunty in the kitchen to knead the dough and roll thin round chapatis.
The rest of the family consumes them without raising doubts, but the husband finds something wrong in the roti. He asked me why the rotis were not soft and thin and what I mixed with the flour. I said nothing much. I am trying to convert regular flour into a wholesome one.
He said no, something is wrong with this flour; I HAVE GAINED WEIGHT SINCE I STARTED eating these new rotis.
I said ok, try for a week more, and then we can go back to the regular Ashriwad atta. The husband did not respond to my request.
I know the reason for weight gain is snacking while watching tv into the late hours and sleeping less. But the Man will deny it, so I found no motivation to argue. He has a habit of contradicting every fact I quote, even if it is valid.

After a week, he pressed I stop the multigrain atta as it is the single most dangerous contributor to his lethargy and weight gain.
I gradually phased out the multigrain and brought back Ashirwad atta to the kitchen shelves. More than the husband, the cook aunty was happy.
_______________________
A year later, he received a forward on WhatsApp explaining the implication of consuming multigrain and how Eating merely wheat rotis is terrible for health once we reach 40 years of age as the metabolic rate slows down.
I said: Maybe you forgot, but we tried, and you made me phase it out of our kitchen as it made you uncomfortable on the weighing scale.
He said ..aarreey nahi; that was because I used to enjoy desserts from the fridge after you slept every night. (I wasn't shocked or surprised at this revelation as I knew what was happening every night in the kitchen.)
How can atta cause weight gain, and that too millet? Watch this video, stating he left the phone on the kitchen top and returned to the bedroom.
_____________
I ignored the video as the same video motivated me to shift to multigrain flour.
_____________
The take-home message is
if Biwi gives Gyan, husbands shun it, but if the same comes from a third person on WhatsApp, they accept it immediately.
____________
Whatsapp university is not always wrong. Just that the right forwards should be sent by the right people at the right time. Let us write only the right things.

LOVE is very pure in certain moments.

LOVE is very pure in certain moments.

We need to freeze and lock the emotion forever.
Like the waxing and waning of the moon, love has its moods and moves at its rhythm, creating a unique melody. There is nothing called everlasting love. It happens in parts, in bits and pieces, and it is magical when it occurs. Just the three winks of it can have a life-changing impact.
Love also happens in instalments; every instalment is precious and differs in size and proportion from the other. Eclectic bits together make magical love stories.
-----
The intervals between the magical moments are the testing times. At every low, hold on to the power and magic of highs. It will pull and lift. Do not give up on love for temporary misunderstandings and silly quarrels.
---------
We often dump the accumulated stress on the person we love, and if they are in a similar disposition, it will lead in a hopeless direction.
Even then, hold on to it because love is like that dormant seed buried in the soil, waiting patiently for a conducive environment to sprout, grow, and bloom.
-------
When provided, With a bit of adoration, care and support, it will revive and Resurge back to a life akin to the seed full of life buried deep inside the soil.
-----
There will be Abhimaan, Silsila, Kabhi Kabhi, Sathiya, Aandhi, Akele hum Akele tum, Chalte Chalte, Kabhi Alvida na Kehna to decoupled moments in every marriage. Most of them have happy endings. We need to draw our lessons from the cinematic depiction of the beauty of love and marriage.
-------
In conclusion
We should avoid going rough on each other and snap the ties for transient resolvable brawls. Give some space for disagreements to cool down and slowly make the first move towards harmony.
Reignite the fire, and live gloriously under its light.
Being in love is a matchless emotion; Falling in and out of it is normal and a shared truth common to all of us.
Leave scope for love to revive like the seed buried deep within the soil.

Slow down, take a pause and reflect! 47th birthday

Slow down, take a pause and reflect!

_________________________________________
Birthdays are special because people around us make them memorable. What a blessing it is to have the adoration, admiration and affection of so many of you.
_____
Birthdays for the first 18 years were with parents and their indulgence.
The following ten years were about celebrating with my companion and the family we two created.
Then came the next beautiful phase, where the carnivals extended late into the night with friends.
_____
With the withering enthusiasm to have birthday bashes and
Departing into a shell slowly and steadily are sure signs of ageing.
_____
I am always in haste to get the work done. Hence I enjoy ageing, too.
Every year, I tick the checkboxes of responsibilities shouldered by this body, mind and heart.
____
The 47th year was about accepting my missteps, learning to forgive, rise above petty arguments, practise good intent, understand detachment, and erasing envy and toxic thoughts. This past year also saw me taking time out for myself and doing things I enjoy without stressing about the family.
The journey inwards, too, has begun!
