tulsi vivah

Every year on the occasion of tulsi vivah , we give small gold/silver gifts to my girls at home.
This year too I requested the jeweler who is also a lady to come to my office with small gift items. She is a girl who efficiently runs a small jewellery shop in the heart of the city, which she inherited form her father, as there were no male children in the family. I enjoy chat with her as she shares how she struggled to get herself acknowledged in the male dominated industry
She shared some interesting tit bits from the market….
As her CA is out of station she is unsure of the amount she can deposit in the bank
And in this crisis situation, where ever she looks for money she finds only the defunct currency, which she started to abhor.
And when she requested her workers who took heavy loans from her, to keep some cash in their accounts (till her CA comes back and gives her clarity), their response was we need 20% commission.
We had a hearty laugh discussing A lot of funny things happening in every shop, house, galli, large business houses, joint families, nuclear families, between brothers , sisters …
Every phone call is being attended cautiously, people whom we assumed to be our own, are running away from us, unanticipated people are coming forward to help in unprecedented ways. Everybody is out to save their skin, behaving as if it’s an infectious disease, like the outbreak of an epidemic, its pandemonium, unnecessary ruckus over something which is very simple and with patience can be handled systematically.
There is a mad rush to buy salt, stocking up small currency, spreading rumors on whatsapp, creating panic, and all this is also surprisingly coming from educated people.
Chill peeps we are not on the brink of a world war, there is no major catastrophe, no earthquake no famine or flood...this is just a measured economic reform and while catering to a country of billion plus population lapses in delivery are expected but it’s still a well drafted strategized and timed decision.
Happy nanak jayanti, happy tulsi vivah
